Packers sign third-round pick WR Montgomery
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers are just one draft-pick signing away from having all of their rookies under contract.
The latest to sign their rookie deal with the Packers is third-round pick Ty Montgomery, who was selected No. 94 overall. That leaves first-rounder Damarious Randall as the only Green Bay draftee without a signed contract.
The financial terms for Montgomery will be very close to those of new Washington Redskins running back Matt Jones, who was drafted one spot before him. According to Spotrac, Jones received a four-year, $2.951 million contract with a $599,415 signing bonus.
Montgomery, a wide receiver / kick returner out of Stanford, was described by Green Bay's west scout Sam Seale as "a bigger Randall Cobb."
During rookie orientation camp, Montgomery stated, "I think I can compete anywhere, at any point in time."
The Packers also signed undrafted free agent Travis Manning on Thursday. Manning played safety his first three seasons at Northwest Missouri State but moved to cornerback as a senior in 2014, recording 32 tackles, 10 pass breakups and one interception. Manning joins a crowded Green Bay defensive backfield, which includes fellow UDFA Ladarius Gunter.
