Packers release QB Callahan

The Green Bay Packers released quarterback Joe Callahan on Friday, cutting ties with the former undrafted free agent and preseason star.

Callahan signed with the Packers out of Wesley College, throwing for 499 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in the preseason.

The move opens up space on the roster for defensive tackle Mike Pennel and cornerback Demetri Goodson, who are set to return this week after being suspended for the first four games of the season.
