Outkick's Top Ten For Week Six

What. A. Mess.

Chaos arrived in college football this weekend and even though it's only October 5th I'm already having trouble coming up with my top ten. I've been writing it for a few weeks now, but this year seems an awful lot like 2007 -- when LSU won the national title with two losses.

Anyone who tells you they have any idea what's going to happen from here on is insane.

It's going to be a wild and fun ride. So here goes with Outkick's top ten:

1. Auburn

The Tigers crushed LSU and are Outkick's number one team in the country.

2. Baylor

Everyone keeps saying that I'm overrating the Bears, but they just keep crushing opponents. Baylor's 5-0 and has beaten every team by 21 points. You can't say that about any other team in the country.

3. Ole Miss

I can only imagine how incredible the celebration in Oxford was after the comeback win over Alabama. It's a night that no Rebel fan will ever forget. Hell, even Katy Perry was diving off bars and pounding beers. Yes, I said the Tide would win by double digits. I was wrong. Congrats to the Rebels. But how incredible was that Bama collapse? That's becoming quite a trend for Nick Saban coached teams in big games.

4. Mississippi State

You can make an argument that Auburn, Ole Miss, or Mississippi State should be ranked number one in the country. I think Auburn has been better on the field than any other team in the country and will beat State in Starkville next weekend. Could I be wrong? Of course. You're reading the guy who went 2-8 against the spread today.

I can't wait to see what will happen in Starkville next weekend.

5. Florida State

I haven't been impressed by Florida State so far this year, but after the carnage in college football this weekend, who else is worthy of a top five ranking?

No one.

6. TCU

From out of nowhere the TCU Horned Frogs are now in Outkick's top ten. That happens when you dominate Oklahoma. Is TCU actually worthy of a top seven ranking? I don't think so. But we'll see what happens next week on the road at Baylor.

7. Alabama

The Tide lost at Ole Miss, but the way things are looking in the first year of the playoff that's far from a loss that eliminates Alabama from winning the title. You want a crazy mess. What if three SEC West teams all finish 7-1 in conference, 11-1 overall with one loss each in the division. How does the tiebreak get broken? The BCS standings used to be used, but what now?

Also, ominous thought for Bama fans, the Tide is now 0-3 in their last three games against ranked opponents.

8. Michigan State

The Spartans were crushing Nebraska on Saturday night until they nearly collapsed and had to hang on for a close win. Unfortunately for Michigan State the beating they took in Oregon is going to hang over their heads all season. This is why, by the way, I believe that playing tough out of conference games actually doesn't make much sense. If Michigan State never plays Oregon, beats a MAC team in East Lansing instead, and goes 13-0, they're 100% in the playoff, right? Yet even if the Spartans go 12-1 from here on out, I don't think there's any way a Big Ten team gets in the playoff.

So what did Michigan State gain by playing Oregon?

9. Oklahoma

I refuse to rank Notre Dame in the top ten because I believe they'd be crushed by every team in the top ten, including at least six of the seven SEC West teams on a neutral field.

So Oklahoma is my number nine team.

10. Georgia

We all knew that Georgia choked at South Carolina, but did anyone think South Carolina was bad enough to blow a 14 quarter fourth quarter lead to Kentucky?

Good grief.

Georgia's got a loss, but the Dawgs would crush Notre Dame on a neutral field.

...

Based on the results on the field, lots of you guys probably feel like this member of the Bama 85%.

Enjoy.
