OSU linebacker undergoes surgery

Ohio State does not have a football game this week, but that doesn't mean the Buckeye beat won't produce any news.

Monday morning linebacker Joshua Perry greeted his 2,400-plus Twitter followers with the news he had surgery, and it apparently went well.

Perry, a sophomore from Lewis Center (Ohio) Olentangy who starts at strong-side linebacker, later told one of his followers the procedure was for his "jacked up hand."

Perry had five tackles and broke up a pass in Ohio State's 56-0 win at Purdue on Saturday. He has 33 tackles this season, his first as a starter.

The Buckeyes, who are fourth in the BCS standings, return to action Nov. 16 at Illinois.
