Orioles' Markakis sidelined for another week

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) -- Baltimore Orioles right fielder Nick Markakis has been diagnosed with a small herniated disc in his neck and will be out about another week.
Orioles manager Buck Showalter made the announcement on Tuesday morning.
Markakis was scratched from the Orioles lineup on March 3 with neck spasms, and had an MRI on Monday. He was told he'd miss two weeks, but since he's already rested it for a week, Markakis should be ready to play next week.
Showalter says Markakis has returned to Baltimore to see a spine specialist.
In 2012, Markakis had surgeries on his abdomen, right hand and left thumb. He has played in an average of 160 games a year in his previous five seasons.
