Ohio's Mr. Basketball picks Duke
Luke Kennard, Ohio's Mr. Basketball award winner this season, announced on Monday night that he'll play college basketball at Duke.
A junior at Franklin High School south of Dayton, Kennard's recruitment had taken off over the last nine months. A left-handed basketball player who's also a star right-handed quarterback at Franklin, Kennard took an official visit to Duke earlier this month for the North Carolina game.
He's a 4.3 student. Last winter, his father, Mark, told FOXSportsOhio.com that he expected his son to decided later this spring.
The 6'5 Kennard also considered Kentucky, Ohio State, North Carolina, Michigan and Louisville. Coaches nationwide have attended both his summer games -- he plays for the Lebron James-sponsored King James AAU program -- and high school games over the last two years.
Scout.com ranks Kennard as the 14th best player nationally in the class of 2015. An outstanding 3-point shooter, Kennard plays point guard for his high school team and on the wing for his King James team.
