Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott has wrist surgery

Ohio State's projected starting running back Ezekiel Elliott underwent minor surgery on Saturday. Ohio State released the following statement:

Elliott is the most-likely suspect to take over for former running back Carlos Hyde. Last season as a freshman, Elliott rushed for 262 yards and two touchdowns.

According to a report from Cleveland.com citing a source “close to the situation,” Elliott had a pin put into his wrist. The source also says he is expected to return to practice on Thursday but he might not face full contact; however, it is anticipated that he will be good to go for the Buckeyes' Aug. 30 opener vs. Navy.
