No night games at Michigan Stadium in 2015

The lights will stay off at the Big House this fall.

Michigan announced Thursday afternoon that the Wolverines will play two night games this season, at Maryland on Oct. 3 and at Minnesota on Oct. 31, but all seven home games will kick off during the day.

The Wolverines have three home games during the non-conference part of the schedule. But with Detroit News research showing that the 100,000-fan attendance streak was broken several times last season, they would want a marquee opponent for a primetime game. Oregon State, UNLV and Brigham Young don't provide that.

Michigan plays Northwestern on Oct. 10, but that's Homecoming, which is traditionally a day game. The only option before November would be Michigan-Michigan State on Oct. 17.

Although there was no official comment in Thursday's release, interim athletic director Jim Hackett has previously talked about his concerns of playing a night game that late in the year.
