NFL reportedly wants to turn Pro Bowl selection process into reality show

Let’s face it, the annual Pro Bowl is hard to watch. You know it. I know it. The NFL knows it. Although the players gave much more “effort” this past season, it still is an exhibition game and it severely lacks the drama of a regular-season game. Well, the NFL has been looking at potential solutions for years and finally may have an idea how to fix this mess: Turn the team selection process into a reality show. Last month, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the NFL considered letting AFC and NFC captains choose the personnel for their teams. Now, according to a Forbes report, the NFL has “expanded the concept into making the roster selection process into an annual reality show.” How can you not love this idea? The more football, the better. The NFL should go one step further. Take a page out of the NBA’s book and exhibit a Rising Stars Challenge. Imagine the NFL pitting the rookies and sophomores against one another. I’d pay good money to watch Geno Smith and Co. try to match an Andrew Luck-led squad. What a barn burner that would be.
