NCAA grants Otule sixth year of eligibility at Marquette

MILWAUKEE -- Marquette center Chris Otule was officially granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA on Wednesday, making his return to the school for the 2013-14 season official. 
The 6-foot-11 native of Richmond, Texas has battled through three season-ending injuries during his time on campus. 
Otule missed all but nine games in 2008-09 with a broken left foot and then broke his right foot in the third game of the 2009-10 season, causing him to miss the rest of that year. He then tore his ACL in the eighth game of the 2011-12 season.
Finally healthy, Otule made tremendous strides this past season. He went from just a big body in the post to a player Marquette could ill-afford to have off the court.
Otule averaged 5.1 points and 3.5 rebounds last season but became much more of an offensive threat as the season wore on, collecting his first career double-double in Marquette's NCAA tournament victory over Davidson, racking up 11 points and 11 rebounds. He then scored 11 points in just 15 minutes in Marquette's Sweet 16 victory over Miami a week later. 
Otule will again be paired with Davante Gardner to give the Golden Eagles a pair of big post players that many teams will struggle to match-up with.
