NAU stumbles in second half, loses to Jacksonville State

LAS VEGAS -- Christian Cunningham scored 19 points and added nine rebounds to help lead Jacksonville State to a 76-63 win over Northern Arizona at the final day of the Global Sports Classic on Saturday.

The win gives Jacksonville State (4-3) three straight following a three-game losing streak.

Malcolm Drumwright shot just 4 of 15 from the field but he hit all five of his free throws and finished with 14 points and six assists for the Gamecocks.

After leading by just 31-30 at the break, Jacksonville State took control in the second half. Cunningham made back-to-back layups to spark a 7-0 spurt to open the half. A Norbertas Giga layup capped a 21-7 run to make it 52-37. The Lumberjacks (2-6) never seriously threatened down the stretch.

Ako Kaluna led Northern Arizona with 16 points. Jordyn Martin had nine points and 12 rebounds, and Mike Green added 13 points and five assists.

The Lumberjacks are off until Dec. 3, when they host San Diego at the Walkup Skydome.
