NAU men, women win Big Sky All-Sports trophies
OGDEN, Utah – Northern Arizona has captured both the men's and women's Big Sky All-Sports Trophies, the conference office announced Monday. The Lumberjacks went into the outdoor track championship with the lead, and a sweep by the men's and women's teams this past weekend secured NAU the win on both sides. The sweep is the first true sweep by any school since 2000-01.
The Northern Arizona men compiled 70.8 points for their 11th win. Montana was second with 51.3 points, while Weber State and Montana State tied for third with 46 points.
The Northern Arizona women take home their sixth all-sports trophy after garnering 73 points. Montana came in second at 63 points, and Portland State claimed third with 61.5 points.
The Northern Arizona women won the indoor and outdoor track and field championship, finished second in the soccer and tennis standings, and placed third at the cross country championship. The Lumberjacks were fourth in volleyball and fifth in golf.
The NAU men the cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field championships, finished second in football, tied for second in basketball and tied for third in tennis.
