Murray: Injured ankle is 'coming along well'
As the Dallas Cowboys prepare for April’s NFL Draft, one of
last year’s impact picks appears on track to being full strength come the start
of the 2012 season.
Running back DeMarco Murray, whose rookie season was cut short when he tore right
ankle ligaments in a Week 14 loss to the eventual Super Bowl champion New York
Giants, said recently that his recovery from surgery is on schedule and he
expects to increase his workload in the next month.
"It's coming along well," Murray told NFL Radio on Sirius/XM on
Friday. "I just started running last week and we have a great
rehabilitation staff at the Cowboys' facility, so I'm doing good."
During his four years at Oklahoma, Murray missed several games while he battled
through knee and hamstring injuries. But the third-round pick isn't worried
about getting labeled injury-prone.
He says that's something that's out of his hands.
"I can't control whether or not I get injured," Murray said.
"That's all a part of God's plan, not that he doesn't have a great plan
for me. There's not a day I go out there and think about getting hurt or think
about injuries because that's when they tend to happen. I'm just going out
there working hard. I'm fortunate it was a minor injury. It's not going to keep
me from missing anything. So we'll see what happens."
Despite only getting significant playing time in the eight games before being
injured, Murray finished with 897 rushing yards and two scores.
