MTSU in fourth after Day 1 of SBC Championships

MIAMI - Though they competed in just two events on Friday evening, the Blue Raider track and field squads grabbed 18 total points in the men's and women's 10,000 meter runs.

In the women's race, Lucy Kapkiai grabbed eight points for the Blue Raiders with her runner up finish in 37:08.71. She was second behind Arkansas State's Kristin Aubert, who crossed in 36:04.62.

Silas Taiget and Shadrack Matelong each claimed team points for MT, as Taiget's 31:35.84 time in the 10,000 meter run placed him third, and Matelong came in fifth, finishing in 32:19.42. Taiget earned six points while Matelong was awarded four
Currently, the Blue Raider women sit in a tie for fourth place with eight points, while the men are fourth with 10 points.

Saturday's action for Middle Tennessee gets underway at 11:30 a.m. CT, with the women's high jump. Ann Dudley will be looking to sweep the high jump titles after she won the indoor championship in February. Live stats are available here.
