Movember Madness: Maruk named Best Mustachioed Minnesota Athlete
The North Stars may be gone, but after more than a decade in the NHL former Minnesota forward Dennis Maruk's facial hair lives on.
The Toronto native recieved 54 percent of the vote in the final round of our Movember Madness bracket, beating out former Twins pitcher Jack Morris for the titile of Best Mustachioed Minnesota Athlete.
Known for both his goal-scoring ability and his prominant facial hair, Maruk spent parts of six seasons with the North Stars from 1983-1989, capping off a 15-year NHL career that began with the California Golden Seals in 1974.
Drafted 21st overall by the Seals, Maruk would go on to score 358 goals and 878 points, including a 60-goal season with the Washington Capitals in 1982.
