OXFORD, Miss. (AP) -- Mississippi coach Houston Nutt says receiver Jesse Grandy has decided to leave the program after the spring semester because of a family illness.
Grandy, a 5-foot-10, 165-pound sophomore, caught 20 passes for 224 yards and a touchdown last season. But his real value was on special teams, where he returned 30 kickoffs for 627 yards and 15 punts for 220 yards and a touchdown.
University spokesman Kyle Campbell said Grandy will not practice with the team during the spring semester. Nutt said Grandy plans on transferring closer to his home in Pine Bluff, Ark.
