Mike Trout helps family near his hometown after house fire

The holidays are over but it's always the right time of the year for a feel good story like this.

South New Jersey Today brings us this story from near Mike Trout's hometown of Millville, New Jersey. After a fire destroyed the DeSimone family's home and everything inside, even the Christmas tree, the Angels centerfielder showed up with gifts and emotional support on Christmas Eve.

 

While the local town and school had come together to help the DeSimone family during their time of need, Trout's role as impromptu Santa Claus came as a total surprise, according to the family:

 

It just goes to show, Trout's an MVP on and off the field.
