Mike Dempsey retiring as Monmouth Park racing director

OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) Mike Dempsey is retiring as the director of racing at Monmouth Park.

The racetrack on the New Jersey shore announced that the 60-year-old Dempsey would be retiring on Dec. 31. He was hired in 1979 as a claims clerk.

Bob Kulina, president of Darby Development LLC, operators of the racetrack, hopes to hire a replacement soon.
