Midweek Stock Report: Opinion of Badgers OT Ramczyk is sky high
Every Wednesday, FOX Sports Wisconsin takes a look at which athletes' stock is trending up and whose is trending down.
In other words, who is making a meteoric rise, and who is quickly plummeting.
With that in mind, let's "take stock" of the current sports scene in Wisconsin, shall we?
Ryan Ramczyk, Badgers offensive tackle
The junior, who just two years ago was playing in Division 3, has been named on a number of postseason All-America teams (including first team by AP, FOX Sports and Sports Illustrated) as well as being mocked in the first round by several prognosticators. It's hard to imagine his stock getting any higher. By the way, the deadline to declare for the NFL Draft is Jan. 16.
Malcolm Brogdon, Bucks guard
The second-round pick has already been seeing a lot of court time, but this last week he posted three of his top-seven minutes in a game this season. Brogdon also scored in double digits in three of Milwaukee's four games, having turned that trick just seven times in the previous 19 games. The rookie made 48.3 percent of his shots, including a blistering 8 of 11 from three-point range (72.7 percent), raising his season 3-point accuracy to 45.1 percent.
Jabari Parker, Bucks forward
Parker scored 27 points in three of the Bucks' four games. Last season, he topped 27 points just twice and he had done it three previous times this season. Parker is now averaging 19.4 points per game.
Morgan Burnett, Packers safety
Playing mainly as a nickel linebacker against Seattle, Burnett had seven tackles, an interception and a pass defensed in Green Bay's big win over the Seahawks on Sunday. He also held pass-catching tight end Jimmy Graham to just one reception for 16 yards.
Dean Lowry, Packers defensive end
The fourth-round pick has recorded sacks in back-to-back games as well as half of his season's six tackles. After barely playing all season, Lowry is clearly on the upswing.
Bronson Koenig, Badgers guard
After scoring 21 points in 17 minutes against a pretty bad Idaho State team, Koenig helped Wisconsin win at rival Marquette, scoring 18 points with six assists. Koenig made 13 of 22 shots in the two games (59.1 percent) and sunk four 3-pointers in both. Koenig has scored in double figures in every game but one this season and has made four or more 3s in five games, including four straight.
Julius Peppers, Packers linebacker
It has been an up-and-down season for Peppers and right now his arrow is pointing in the wrong direction. Peppers played 75 percent of the defensive snaps against Seattle and finished with just one assisted tackle and no QB hurries. Talk about not a lot of bang for your buck.
Recent Bucks first-round picks
While Milwaukee found a contributor in Brogdon in the second round of this past year's draft, the Bucks aren't getting much production out of their last two first-round picks. Rashad Vaughn, who has spent time in the D-League this season, and Thon Maker both appeared in just two games and combined to play 18 minutes. The good news is that Vaughn is 20 and Maker doesn't turn that age until February, so there's still time. And it's obvious the Bucks are taking it quite slow with 2016 first-rounder Maker, who has played all of 25 minutes.
