Michigan suspends TE A.J. Williams

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan tight end A.J. Williams will be suspended for Saturday's game at Michigan State, according to a statement issued by the university.

According to ABC-22 TV in Dayton, the 19-year-old sophomore was arrested early Sunday morning in Oxford, Ohio, after running a stop sign. He was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and underage drinking, as well as ticketed for the original violation.

"It's certainly disappointing when one of your kids makes a very poor decision," Michigan coach Brady Hoke said in the statement. "A.J. realizes he has let a lot of people down, including himself.

"As families do, we will help A.J. as he learns a valuable lesson from this."

Williams has been used throughout his career as an extra offensive lineman, and hasn't caught a pass in 19 career games.

That's nothing new for the 6-foot-6, 265-pounder. He didn't catch a pass during his senior season in high schoo, eitherl.

With Williams sidelined against Michigan State, freshman Khalid Hill could get some playing time, as well as redshirt junior Jordan Paskorz.
