Miami will play at Notre Dame in 2016

The University of Miami announced on Friday morning the football team will travel to South Bend, Ind., to face Notre Dame on Oct. 29, 2016.

The Hurricanes are 7-16-1 against the Fighting Irish, having dropped three in a row in the series, and 1-8 in South Bend. The only win came in 1984 (31-13). Miami lost 41-3 in Chicago last season and 33-17 in the 2010 Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas.

The Hurricanes and Fighting Irish played each other for 15 straight years from 1971-1985 and 19 of 20 (1971-1990 except 1986).

Notre Dame will play 15 Atlantic Coast Conference opponents in a three-year span as a partial member of the league. Florida State will host Notre Dame on Oct. 18, 2014.

Miami (9-3) leaves for the Russell Athletic Bowl on Sunday seeking its first double-digit win season in a decade.
