Chipper Jones

Position:

3B
Height: 6-4
Weight: 210
Bat/Throw: S/R
Hometown: Deland, Fla.
Experience: 18th season

2011 in review: Injuries and age again took their toll on Jones last season, but he hit 33 doubles, his second-best total since 2002, and he finished with a .275 average, his best since 2008.

Career highlight: Other than helping the Braves win the World Series as a rookie in 1995, Jones was the NL MVP in 1999. That season he became the first player in MLB history to hit .300 (.319), score 100 runs (116), hit 40 doubles (41), hit 40 homers (45), knock in 100 runs (110), walk 100 times (126) and steal 20 bases (25).

Outlook: Who knows what 2012 will bring for Jones. He could retire or he could put together a typical season of 18-20 home runs, 75 RBIs and a .275 average. Expect Jones, who has been plagued by right leg problems this spring, to play about 125 games.

You should know: He has four sons – Matthew, who was born in 1997, Larry Wayne Jones III (Trey), who was born in 2000, Shea, who was born in 2004, and Tristan, who was born in 2005.
