Matt Kemp on seeing sick fan: 'It almost got me'
Matt Kemp's generosity has touched many in the baseball world.
Kemp, who recently gave a sick fan not only an autographed baseball but his game jersey, hat and cleats, was beyond moved when he came into contact with Joshua Jones, a 19-year-old
from Tracy, Calif., suffering from inoperable tumors in his spine
and has been given 90 days to live.
“I said hi to him, he just looked at me in kind of shock, and it almost
got me,” Kemp told Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times. “It almost
got me.”
“I was in shock,” Jones said in a phone interview Tuesday. “I was sitting there thinking, ‘I can't believe he's doing this.'”
