Marquette student stays true to word, pays Providence's Dunn for free-throw miss
Marquette's 96-91 double-overtime victory over Providence on Wednesday was an exciting thriller. But it would have ended in defeat for the Golden Eagles, had Providence star Kris Dunn not missed a free throw with 33 seconds left, and Marquette's Tracy Carter not scored a tying basket to send the game into OT.
While Dunn was at the line, Marquette student Jamey Schilling yelled out he'd give the player $10 if he missed a free throw (which Dunn did). So that same night, Schilling wrote a check out to Providence Athletics — to avoid any impropriety of making it out to Dunn himself — along with a letter explaining that he's "a man of my word."

Schilling's move has garnered him some attention, not just from websites but also Marquette itself.
First, the Marquette Spirit Shop sent Schilling a $10 gift card Friday morning for "being a great representative" of the university.

Then, five minutes later, Schilling got another tweet — and another gift card — from the university itself, lauding their student's "super classy move" and proclaiming Schilling represents "the best of Marquette's fans."

No word from Providence yet, but we have a feeling a gift card won't be involved.
