Marquette roars back after halftime to top North Dakota
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- JaJuan Johnson scored 19 points and Derrick Wilson scored 15 points and grabbed nine boards as Marquette roared back from a five-point halftime deficit to beat North Dakota 67-54 on Monday night.
Johnson scored 14 of his points in the second half. Wilson scored 11 after intermission.
Matt Carlino opened the second half with a four-point play, and Luke Fischer had a tip-in and jumper to give Marquette the lead for good at 42-39. Carlino knocked down a jumper and a 3-pointer back-to-back to push the lead to double digits, 55-44.
The Golden Eagles (7-4) dominated the boards, outrebounding North Dakota 46-28. Juan Anderson led the rebounding effort with 13, nine at the defensive end. Marquette was 25 of 59 from the field and 13 of 24 from the line.
Estan Tyler scored 18 points to lead North Dakota (4-7), knocking down 6 of 9 from behind the arc.
