Marquette dispatches DePaul behind 51-percent shooting
ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Haanif Cheatham made four 3-pointers and scored 20 points and Marquette defeated DePaul 73-60 on Saturday.
Luke Fischer added 16 points, Henry Ellenson 14 and Jajuan Johnson 10 for the Golden Eagles (17-10, 6-8 Big East), who split the season series after losing to the Blue Demons (8-18, 2-12) on the road 57-56 on Jan. 20.
Tommy Hamilton was the only Blue Demon in double figures with 20 points as DePaul dropped its fourth straight game.
Marquette never trailed after Cheatham's 3-pointer less than three minutes into the game. The Golden Eagles led by 11 at halftime and the lead stayed in double figures the entire second half, reaching 23 points on another Cheatham trey with 7:49 left.
Marquette made 26 of 51 shots for 51 percent, including 7 of 17 on 3-point tries. DePaul shot 42 percent and was 5 of 15 from the arc.
