Marlins to push back phenom Jose Fernandez's starts

ATLANTA (AP) -- Miami rookie Jose Fernandez probably has two more starts before he'll be shut down, and the Marlins are adjusting his schedule to make sure those are home games.

Marlins manager Mike Redmond said Saturday the team will hold firm to a 170-innings limit for the phenom. He has thrown 158 2-3 innings.

The right-hander is 10-6 and ranks third in the National League with a 2.33 ERA.

Fernandez's next start has been pushed back from Wednesday at the Cubs to Friday at home against the Nationals. His last start could come the following week in Miami against the Braves.

Fernandez pitched six strong innings but took the loss when the Braves beat the Marlins 2-1 on Friday night.
