Marlins place Dunn on 15-day DL, designate Hand, Gillespie for assignment

MIAMI (AP) -- Miami Marlins left-hander Mike Dunn has been placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained left forearm.

The move Sunday was retroactive to March 25. Dunn underwent an MRI which was negative, and the Marlins don't believe his injury is serious, president of baseball operations Michael Hill said Sunday.

Miami designated left-hander Brad Hand and outfielder Cole Gillespie for assignment. If Hand is not claimed, the Marlins could outright him to Triple-A New Orleans.

Left-handers Craig Breslow and Chris Narveson and right-hander Dustin McGowan made the roster and will be in the bullpen on opening night Tuesday against Detroit.

The Marlins placed left-hander Raudel Lazo on the 15-day disabled list and right-hander Carter Capps on the 60-day disabled list. Capps is out for the season following elbow surgery.
