Mark McCullers out as Crew's president
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- The Columbus Crew are splitting with President Mark McCullers, saying he is resigning and leaving the team April 30.
New Crew chairman and investor-operator Anthony Precourt also said in a statement he told McCullers his contract would not be extended. Precourt said he and McCullers agreed the organization should go in a different direction.
Precourt is assuming the club's day-to-day operations as acting club president during the search for McCullers' replacement.
McCullers joined the Crew in 1998 and served as manager of Crew Stadium, executive vice president, general manager and president. The Crew won the MLS Cup in 2008.
