Manny Wilkins works as ASU's second-team quarterback
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Redshirt freshman quarterback Manny Wilkins worked with the second-team offense Friday for Arizona State, with freshmen Brady White and Bryce Perkins working with the Sun Devils' scout team.
But head coach Todd Graham said it remains a close competition to determine the backup to starter Mike Bercovici.
"I think that continues to go on," Graham said. "We've got the other two young guys down here because they can help us get prepared to play for possibly the two (Texas A&M) quarterbacks we're going to see.
"We would like for Manny to step up and be the No. 2 guy, but all three of those guys are really close. As far as the guy being prepared (to play), we've got a lot of work to do there. I think that right now he's in the best position to do it."
Graham also announced that a pair of walk-ons, sophomore running back Jacom Brimhall and sophomore long snapper Mitchell Fraboni, were being put on scholarship. Graham said Brimhall is in the running to be the Sun Devils' primary punt returner, along with running back Gump Hayes.
