Magic Musings: Orlando tops Oklahoma City in dramatic fashion

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Orlando Magic came close to defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder in their most recent meetings with one of the NBA's powerhouses.

They got over the hump Friday night in dramatic fashion.

Tobias Harris' buzzer-beating dunk off a fast break enabled the Magic to pull out a 103-102 victory over the Thunder. It was only the second loss in the last 14 games for the Thunder, who had edged the Magic 101-98 in December at Oklahoma City.

Until Harris' game-winner, the Magic had gone without a basket since a driving layup by Victor Oladipo tied the score at 99 with 3:16 to go.

They trailed by as many as 17 points in the first half but went on a 13-2 run to start the fourth quarter and take a 93-90.

Both teams shot better than 50 percent from the floor through the first three quarters. But points became harder to come by in the final 12 minutes, even from the free-throw line. Arron Afflalo, an 82.7-percent shooter from the line this season, missed the second of three attempts after being fouled by Serge Ibaka with less than a minute remaining and the Magic down 102-99.

Durant had 15 points and five assists in the first quarter as the Thunder made 14 of their 20 shots to take a 36-23 lead.

Despite shooting 52.5 percent in the first half, the Magic trailed 65-51. A big reason for that was because the Thunder went 8 of 12 from 3-point range, including two each off their bench from Derek Fisher and Jeremy Lamb.

Durant finished with 29 points and tied his career high in assists with 12.

THE TURNING POINT

Durant missed a pullup 19-footer with 4.9 seconds remaining to trigger the fast break which led to Harris' game-winning dunk.

THE DIFFERENCE MAKER

Oladipo had his second consecutive strong showing off the bench with 14 points, five rebounds and two steals.

STAT OF THE GAME

The win was the Magic's fourth in a row at home. The last time they had a four-game home winning streak was March 3-16, 2012.
