Lynx star Moore earns another weekly WNBA honor

MINNEAPOLIS -- The WNBA might as well just name its Western Conference player of the week award after Maya Moore.

The league announced Monday the Lynx forward has gleaned the honor for the second straight week (games through July 20), third time this season and eighth occasion in her four-year career. Moore's 32-point showing against Tulsa last Wednesday marked her ninth 30-plus-point game of the season, tying her with Lauren Jackson (2007) for the second-highest single-season mark in WNBA history.

Moore's 24.1 points and 35 minutes per game both lead the league this season. She also ranks fifth in steals (two per game), sixth in free-throw accuracy (87.7 percent), eighth in rebounding (8.3 boards per game), 14th in blocks (0.87 per game) and 15th in field-goal percentage (48.6).

She had 24 points, eight assists and five rebounds in the West's All-Star Game loss on Saturday, though that performance didn't factor into the player of the week decision.

The defending champion Lynx return from the All-Star break with a 2013 finals rematch against Atlanta at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Target Center.
