Louisiana State routs North Texas 56-13

RUSTON, La. (AP) -- Kenneth Dixon ran for a career-best six touchdowns as Louisiana Tech routed North Texas 56-13 on Saturday night.

Dixon rushed for 195 yards on 22 carries for the Bulldogs (7-3, 5-1 Conference USA). Jeff Driskel threw for 296 yards and was intercepted once.

Louisiana Tech went up 28-0 by halftime on three short-yardage scoring runs by Dixon and a 26-yard fumble return for a score by Bryson Abraham.

Midway through the third quarter, Dixon scored his longest, a 40-yard touchdown run that gave the Bulldogs a 35-0 advantage.

North Texas scored in the final period on a pair of touchdown passes by DaMarcus Smith but Dixon and Blake Martin also scored in the fourth to keep the Bulldogs well ahead.

Smith finished with 234 yards passing and two touchdowns for the Mean Green (1-8, 1-5).
