Lightning sign forwards Brenden Morrow and Philippe Paradis

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Lightning signed free agent forward Brenden Morrow to a one-year contract Friday, while also announcing a one-year, two-way deal with forward Philippe Paradis. Later in the afternoon, they re-signed forward Richard Panik to a one-year, two-way contract.

Morrow, 35, recorded 13 goals and 25 points in 71 games with the St. Louis Blues last season. The native of Carlyle, Saskatchewan has played in 921 career NHL games with the Dallas Stars, Pittsburgh Penguins and Blues. He has 262 goals and 567 points with a plus-108 rating.

The Stars selected Morrow in the first round (25th overall) in the 1997 NHL draft. He has represented Canada in a number of international competitions, including the 1999 World Junior Championships, the 2004 and 2005 IIHF World Championships, the 2004 World Cup of Hockey and the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.

Paradis, meanwhile, played in 56 games for the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League last season, collecting six goals and 15 points. He has played in 166 career AHL games with 13 goals and 43 points.

Panik, 23, played in 50 games with the Lightning last season and had three goals with 13 points. He also appeared in 13 games with Syracuse and had three goals and 11 points.

A native of Martin, Slovakia, Panik has played in 75 NHL games, all with the Lightning. He has eight goals and 22 points. Tampa Bay selected him in the second round (52nd overall) in the 2009 NHL draft.
