LeBron, Lillard 'hashed out' Twitter awkwardness

A while back, Damian Lillard tweeted some less-than-pleasant things about LeBron James -- but James insisted he doesn't care.

Of course, James' Cavaliers play Lillard's Trail Blazers on Tuesday in Portland, so if James does care, he's likely to let his game do the talking.

"I didn't even see the tweets," James said Tuesday from the Cavs' shootaround. "I don't really get into social media like that. He came to me before it even got to me and we hashed it out right there. So it's no big deal."

The tweets in question were posted by Lillard during his senior season at Weber State. James was in his first season with the Heat at the time. The Heat lost to the Mavericks in the Finals, and Lillard ripped James -- calling him a fake and other generally vulgar names. The website Deadspin revealed the tweets.

In an interview with The Oregonian last week, Lillard said he regretted posting his comments.

"One of my coaches used to always tell me that when you make mistakes, you've got to face the music," Lillard said. "In college, me and some of my college teammates were messing around. I was the obvious Miami Heat fan and they wanted Dallas to win and I made some comments about LeBron that (were) uncalled for. And that just goes to show that a lot of kids now on the social network, a lot of the stuff that you put out there, you never know when it can come back. So my advice to them is to be careful with that.

"It was just irresponsible. It's something that I'm not proud of. But I can also say that I've grown up since then. And I was just a young kid doing crazy stuff with my teammates."

The Cavs (1-1) are beginning a three-game road swing. The Blazers (1-2) have struggled out of the gate after starting 22-4 last season.
