Jerry: Romo played best game of his career

Tony Romo has had some outstanding performances over the last seven years as quarterback of the Cowboys.

A few that come to mind include a five-touchdown game against the Buccaneers in 2006, four four-touchdown games in 2007, a 23-of-26 (148.4 QB rating) game last season against the Bills and a 22-of-27 (150.5 QB rating) game against the Eagles earlier this month.

But none of those are on the top of Jerry Jones' list. The Cowboys owner and general manager said Wednesday that Romo's best outing came in Sunday's 27-24 overtime victory over the Steelers.

"Romo, in my mind, played the best game that he's ever played, and that's saying a lot because he has played some good games around here," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM]. "But he had his best game. And he had a real good game against Cincinnati as well. So it is something to be optimistic about, if he can continue that against the Saints.

"Our offensive line is playing better. We're going to need to play better. But we're playing better, and that's giving Romo more time. Things were real slow out there for Romo. That's a positive. You call it slowing down. And he was really able to really put that ball in there on the right receivers. So all of that was a big plus."

Romo completed 30-of-42 passes for 341 yards and two touchdowns against the Steelers. During the last seven games, Romo has tossed 13 touchdowns and three interceptions. The Cowboys are 5-2 during that stretch.
