Jermaine Jones takes to Instagram in quest for new deal
United States midfielder Jermaine Jones took to Instagram on Friday to continue his social media campaign for a new contract in New England.
Jones is currently without a club after his contract with the Revolution and MLS expired at the end of last year. Revs officials have continually left the door open for Jones to return in 2016, but the two sides have not reached an agreement on terms over the past few months.
The veteran midfielder, 34, offered a public glimpse into the state of discussions back in December by venting about the club's offer on Twitter:
I would like to return to @nerevolution but they have offered me less than 20% of what I made last year.

Jones reinforced his case for a new deal by offering a series of statistics detailing the club's improvement since his arrival in an Instagram post on Friday afternoon, though he subsequently deleted the post:
Those numbers are not likely to prompt considerable movement on the Revolution's stance, particularly after the arrival of former Vancouver Whitecaps midfielder Gershon Koffie yesterday.
Jones made $2.8 million in base salary and $3 million in guaranteed compensation in 2015, according to MLS Players Union documents, but he is in line for a significant pay reduction if he returns to MLS in 2016. He also faces a six-match suspension once he signs a new deal after a physical confrontation with referee Mark Geiger last year.
As an additional complication in those pursuits, Jones is also ruled out from participating in U.S. national team matches once his suspension starts, according to U.S. Soccer bylaws.
