Jeremy Lin says he shouldn't be an All-Star
Jeremy Lin has some flaws, but self-awareness is not among them.
Lin said what you were already thinking: He does not belong in the NBA All-Star Game.
"Uh, no," he told NBA.com on Wednesday. "That’s the furthest thing from my mind, to be honest, being on a five-game losing streak. I don’t even care right now, I’m just trying to get a win."
Lin averages 12 points and six assists per game for the Houston Rockets, who are 21-19. He is the team's starter but sometimes is benched in favor of Toney Douglas, particularly in fourth-quarter situations. Douglas averages eight points and two asissts in 20 minutes, but he's a better shooter than Lin, who is shooting only 28 percent from the 3-point line this season.
As All-Star voting progressed toward its conclusion, Lin was trailing Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul but continued to see the gap close in recent weeks. In the last voting update released by the NBA, three weeks ago, Lin trailed Paul by 46,000 votes.
Fan voting ended Jan 14. Starting lineups will be announced Thursday evening.
