Jepkosgei sets record time in half marathon

PRAGUE (AP) Joyciline Jepkosgei won the women's Prague half marathon in the fastest time in history, crossing the finishing line in 1 hour, 4 minutes, 52 seconds on Saturday.

Another Kenyan, Peres Jepchirchir, set the previous best time of 1:05:06 on Feb. 10 in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.

Jepchirchir was scheduled to run in Prague but was forced to withdraw from the race due to typhoid fever.

Jepkosgei led a Kenya sweep of the podium with Violah Japchumba finishing second and Fancy Chemutai third.

Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia won the men's race in 59:37.
