Jared Allen spends time building homes for wounded soldiers
Most of us are guilty of being pretty self-centered during vacation. It's our time off, right? Which means it's time to kick back, put the feet up and enjoy some adult beverages, catch some sun, maybe head to Vegas. It's all good.
Well, Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen isn't wasting time during his offseason. Sure, he could be doing all the things referenced in the paragraph above, but no dice. Allen, along with his foundation, Jared Allen's Homes For Wounded Warriors, is busy constructing custom houses for our fighting men and women once they come back to the States.
On this day, a double amputee named Ken coming back from Iraq is getting the deed to his new crib in Arizona, which has specially designed features built to accommodate his wheelchair.
"It's always fun to complete the home. ... It's even better the day we get to give them the home and hand the keys over," Allen said in an interview with FOX10 News.
What's even cooler is that Ken's new house comes complete with barbecue pit in the backyard. Now that's what I'm talking about. It's a really sweet setup. You can take a tour of the house and hear Allen describe his foundation RIGHT HERE.
