Jaguars claim LB Arthur Brown, S Marqueston Huff off waivers
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars have claimed linebacker Arthur Brown off waivers from Baltimore and safety Marqueston Huff off waivers from Tennessee.
The Jaguars also signed veteran receiver Arrelious Benn to the 53-man roster Sunday. To make room for Brown and Benn, the club released running back Joe Banyard and placed offensive tackle Josh Wells (thumb) on injured reserve. Huff, suspended one game without pay for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, will begin the season on the suspended list and won't count against the 53-man limit.
Brown had 17 tackles in three seasons with the Ravens. A second-round draft pick from Kansas State in 2013, Brown played in 16 games last season and had two tackles.
Huff played two seasons with the Titans, totaling 33 tackles, four passes defensed and one interception. A fourth-round selection from Wyoming, Huff played collegiately alongside Jaguars starting safety Tashaun Gipson for two seasons.
Benn spent last season on injured reserve. He was released in final cuts Saturday. His addition gives the Jaguars six receivers, including Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns, Marqise Lee, Rashad Greene and Bryan Walters.
Jacksonville also filled seven of its 10 practice squad spots, signing defensive tackle Richard Ash, receiver Shaq Evans, offensive tackle Rashod Hill, receiver Rashad Lawrence, cornerback Nick Marshall, linebacker Sean Porter and receiver Shane Wynn. All seven were with the Jaguars during training camp before being waived in final cuts.
