Jared Boll had the game-winning goal and a fight Tuesday night as the Columbus Blue Jackets got a much-needed victory, defeating the Calgary Flames 3-1 at Nationwide Arena.
Boll set the tone early when he dropped the gloves at the 2:59 mark of the first period. He scored the game winner in the second period.
Boll didn't get much ice time, but he made his 4:56 count. Boll actually spent more time in the penalty box than he did on the ice, but his fight put the Jackets on the offensive as he decisively won his bout against former Blue Jackets player Tim Jackman. Boll continued setting the pace by leading the team with six hits, and his goal at the 11:18 point of the second period put the Jackets up 2-0.
