It's the giving season!

Without editorial comment, just a few recent headlines to bolster your holiday spirits ...

    This isn't a recent news story, per se, but minor-league baseball players actually earn less money today, adjusting for inflation, than they did in 1976. Many would presumably qualify for public assistance -- or "welfare" as we used to call it -- although I've never actually heard of a professional player actually getting food stamps.
