International Trot returns to Yonkers after 20 years
NEW YORK (AP) The International Trot returns after a 20-year absence to Yonkers Raceway.
The raceway announced Tuesday that 10 elite harness horses from various countries will compete Oct. 10 for the $1 million purse at 1 1/4 miles.
The field consists of BBS Sugarlight (Norway); Bee a Magician (Canada); Creatine (U.S.); Mosaique Face (Sweden); Natural Herbie (U.S.); Oasis Bi (Italy); On Track Piraten (Sweden); Papagayo E (Norway); Rod Stewart (Italy); and Timoko (France).
The Yonkers half-mile oval last hosted the event in 1995, won by Sweden's His Majesty. The purse equals the richest in Yonkers history.
The race debuted at Roosevelt Raceway in 1959. Raceway President Timothy Rooney calls it a ''signature New York race.''
