'Inside the Magic: Elfrid Payton' premieres Nov. 27 on FOX Sports Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. -- From rookie to fan favorite over the course of a year, point guard Elfrid Payton has already made a lasting impact in Orlando. On Friday, Nov. 27 at 10:00 p.m., "Inside the Magic: Elfrid Payton" will debut on FOX Sports Florida upon conclusion of the Magic vs. Milwaukee Bucks game.

Join us as we travel to the great state of Louisana for an all-access look at Payton's journey to the NBA, starting in Gretna, La., where he began school a year before most children. Always being the youngest in his class had him facing bigger and stronger kids that helped him develop into a successful athlete. Payton's drive to make an impact on the court received a boost in high school as a growth spurt before his senior year helped his confidence and his game. That year he led the team to a 30-4 record and earned district MVP honors and first team all-state.

After all his success, the only Division I college to offer him a scholarship was the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The fact schools did not respect his talent was all the motivation he needed. His experience with Team USA U19 basketball really helped put him on the map when he played well and the team won a gold medal. As a junior with the Ragin' Cajuns, Payton won the Lefty Driesell Award as the best defensive player in college basketball. He also led ULL to the 2014 NCAA Tournament.

In the 2014 NBA draft, Payton was selected 10th by the Philadelphia 76ers, but was quickly acquired by the Magic. He would go on to play in all 82 games with the Magic and finished fourth in the voting for Rookie of the Year.
