'Inside the Lightning: Brian Boyle' premieres Dec. 28 on FOX Sports Sun
TAMPA, Fla. (Dec. 27, 2016) -- On Wednesday, Dec. 28 at 10:30 p.m., FOX Sports Sun, the regional television home of the Tampa Bay Lightning, will premiere an all-new episode of "Inside the Lightning" upon conclusion of the Lightning vs. Montreal Canadiens game.
"Inside the Lightning: Brian Boyle" goes back to the very beginning to feature the Lightning center's journey to Tampa Bay. FOX Sports Sun cameras travelled to Massachusetts to present an all-access look at Boyle's upbringing in Hingham, Mass. where he was the seventh of 13 children. Viewers will get to hear from his mother, Judy, and father, Artie, as the family took in a Lightning vs. Bruins game while the Bolts were in Boston. Lightning fans will watch as we paid a visit to his high school at St. Sebastian's School in Needham, Mass. Brian was a three-sport star at the all-boys Catholic school, highlighted by his time on the hockey team where he led the team to district titles as a sophomore and junior. St. Sebastian's interviews include former coaches and teachers Jed Doherty and Steve Dagdigian, as well as School Headmaster Bill Burke.
Boyle was drafted out of high school in 2003 in the first round at pick 26 by the Los Angeles Kings. He chose to stay in school instead and became a big part of a Boston College team that made three Frozen Four appearances under Head Coach Jerry York. After graduating college, he played for the Kings for two years before he was traded to the New York Rangers. He stayed in New York for five very successful years. It was in New York that he would meet his wife, Lauren Bedford. They married in 2014 and have a son named Declan.
On July 1, 2014 Boyle left the Rangers to sign with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Boyle has skated in over 500 career NHL games and played his 100th career NHL playoff game in 2016.
