Indians' Maronde clears waivers, outrighted to Triple-A Columbus

Nick Maronde, who was designated for assignment last week when the Indians signed Gavin Floyd, has cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday. The left-hander has been extended a non-roster invite to Spring Training.

The Indians acquired Maronde from the Angels on July 12. He made six starts for Mahoning Valley, Akron and Columbus, going 0-2 with a 4.70 ERA. Maronde also saw action in the Arizona Fall League as a reliever.

With the move, the Indians have 10 non-roster invitees to Spring Training. The others are pitchers Tyler Cloyd, Scott Downs, Shaun Marcum, Dustin Molleken and Bryan Price, catchers Brett Hayes and Adam Moore, first baseman/outfielder Jerry Sands and outfielder Destin Hood.
