Indianapolis coach facing sex charge remaining in custody

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) A former boys high school basketball coach in Indianapolis who's charged with sending sexually explicit messages to a 15-year-old girl will remain in federal custody while a judge considers letting him stay at his parents' house under electronic monitoring.

A federal magistrate ruled Monday that 31-year-old Kyle Cox could be released to live with his parents, but put the decision on hold because a prosecutor said he would appeal to a higher-ranking district court judge.

The magistrate said she was troubled by evidence that Cox was communicating with people at Park Tudor after his December resignation from the exclusive private school. Prosecutors presented evidence that Cox texted people about a student's subsequent assault on the girl whose father had notified school officials about explicit messages and photos on her phone.
