India wins toss, bats in 2nd ODI vs Australia

BRISBANE, Australia (AP) India won the toss and elected to bat Friday in the second limited-overs cricket international against Australia at the Gabba.

The tourists also won the toss and batted in the opening match of the series at Perth, posting a total of 309-3 with Rohit Sharma making an unbeaten 171 and Virat Kohli 91. But Australia, led by centuries to captain Steve Smith and George Bailey, went on to win by five wickets.

Australia made three changes to its lineup, including fast bowler Kane Richardson in place of Josh Hazlewood, opener Shaun Marsh for David Warner and allrounder John Hastings for Mitch Marsh.

India made one change, recalling fast bowler Ishant Sharma in place of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said India ''needs to score 310 or so again'' on a good pitch and to improve its fielding.
