Hurricanes men's basketball to embark on Spain tour

The University of Miami men's basketball team may not begin its 2014-15 schedule until November, but it will get an overseas experience of a lifetime beginning Tuesday.

The Hurricanes depart for a 10-day tour that includes four exhibition games in Spain Tuesday. After an overnight flight to Madrid, the coach and players will tour the city and attend a UM alumni event.

Following some sightseeing at Toledo on Thursday, it is down to business with two games over the weekend.

Miami faces Eurocolegio Casvi on Friday before visiting Valencia on Saturday, playing Albacete Baloncesto on Sunday and traveling to Barcelona on Monday.

On Tuesday, they will visit Olympic Stadium, home of the 1992 Summer Olympics, as well as Montserrat Hill. On Wednesday, after visiting Montserrat Hill, Miami plays against CB Quart before concluding the trip Thursday against AEC Collblanc Torrassa.

All four games will be played under FIBA rules, which vary a bit from the NCAA. Differences include four 10-minute periods rather than two 20-minute halves as well as a 24-second clock.
